Diagnostic Imaging Common Service integration now live at sites across the province
Health care providers across the province now have quick and seamless access to their patients’ diagnostic images and reports, thanks to a new initiative from eHealth Ontario.
The Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Common Service is now fully integrated with the ConnectingOntario ClinicalViewer, which supports clinicians in Northern and Eastern Ontario as well as the Greater Toronto Area. Integration is also underway with ClinicalConnect™, where users at two sites in South West Ontario now also have access to the DI Common Service with many more scheduled to receive access in the coming months.
Access to images and reports helps to eliminate the need for patients to carry around physical CD’s with their DI information on them to specialist’s offices. It also eliminates the need to mail or fax test results, and the costly duplication of scans when a patient moves from one hospital to another. Most importantly for patients, this network allows specialists at one facility to access reports acquired at other hospitals, allowing for more informed, timely medical decisions.
